Wang Zhizhi, the Eternal Dragon.

Wang Zhizhi, who in 2001 became the first basketball player from China to play in the NBA, said goodbye to the basketball courts after a long career of 20 years, ending on the same team where he began, the Bayi Rockets. Wang, who debuted in the Chinese CBA in the league's very first season, with just 16, had been selected by the Dallas Mavericks in the 1999 draft, much to the surprise of both Chinese fans as Americans.

His tenure in the best league in the world was rather discrete (with appearances in Los Angeles Clippers and Miami Heat) so as his performances in the Chinese national team (which was out for five years due to conflicts with their Federation), however he left an indelible mark in the domestic league, which ranks among the top in almost every statistical section: second all-time in points with 9,664 (22.4 per game, only 34 behind leader Zhu Fangyu and 336 from 10,000), fourth in total rebounds ( 3,657, 8.5 per night), 17th in steals (565, 1.3) , first in blocks (852, 2.0), first in total field goals made (3,782) with 55% accuracy and he wasn't bad in triples ( 478, 1.1).

Wang Zhizhi is leaving the court, but at the heart of its people will remain forever the roars of the dragon. The Eternal Dragon.
