Diamantidis on its peak

Dimitris Diamantidis achieved another milestone in his outstanding career since last Monday 21st was crowned all-time assist leader in Turkish Airlines Euroleague history. The legendary point guard dished five assists in the suffered win at OAKA against CSKA Moscow (65-59) which totaled 978, one more than his countrymate, the recently retired Theo Papaloukas.

Diamantidis, who will turn 34 in May, also has the highest assist average this season with 6.3 per game, which is also the best of his long career. In 223 Euroleague games, Diamantidis averaged 4.4 passes per night, and is playing his tenth season in Europe's premier competition which was already three-time champion (2007, 2009 and 2011 , the last one with MVP included), four times Euroleague First Team member and six times was proclaimed best defender, a record that still stands.

In addition to assists, the Hellenic Diamond leads the all-time steals list (396), he's second in efficiency (3,196), fifth in fouls received (833), eighth in three-point shots made (300), 13th in points scored (2086), and even 14th in rebounds (841) and 16th in blocks (105), something very valuable for being a point guard.
