Philippines, to continue making history

Philippines qualified to the World Cup for first time since 1978, when they were hosts. The Asian team got their ticket after finishing second in the qualifying tournament in Asia. An unparalleled achievement for a small country who seeks to stay afloat in this World Cup in Spain.

The Filipino squad, which won third place in 1954 as the only top achievement, will compete in Group B with Croatia, Greece, Argentina candidate, Senegal and Puerto Rico. The seat is Seville and the stadium, Palacio de Deportes San Pablo.

With the experienced coach Chot Reyes Vincent as head of the group, trust is what is left over and want their short stay not to last what they crave. However, the road is hard and resistant barriers to face off.

Due to the 34th FIBA ranking, it seems a powerful selection but included figures like Japeth Aguilar, Jean Marc Pingris, Tenorio Lewis, Jayson Williams and Castro Jeffrei Chan.

The list is complete with twelve Ranidel De Ocampo, Gabe Norwood, Jimmy Apalag, Gary David, Larry Fonacier, June Mar Fajardo and the recently nationalized Andray Blatche, their main hope in attack. These plus the five named above are responsible for leaving a large footprint in the Philippine Basketball.
