Puerto Rico hopes to give the best

After two dismal performances in the last two World Cups (Japan and Turkey), Puerto Rico will try to reverse the negative image of Spain in 2014 where they qualify thanks to the second place finish in the FIBA Americas last year. The team is ranked 17th in the FIBA ranking, and they will play Group B along with Argentina, Senegal, Greece, the Philippines and Croatia, all of them in Seville at the Palacio de Deportes San Pablo.

With coach Francisco "Paco" Olmos, holders of the most challenging Puerto Rican team are forward Carlos Arroyo, point guard Jose Barea and center Renaldo Balkman. These three are the soul of the team and his game is based almost entirely on their capabilities. Olmos also decided to sit former Wizards center Peter John Ramos out of the competition for technical reasons. From 1st to 7th August they played the Centrobasket in Nayarit, Mexico, where they became runner-ups. The Puerto Rican squad would draw the attention of friends and strangers, knowing that does not come as favorite scary area but by physical big men and the ability to play outside.
