How far Rudy Fernandez can reach?

With its renovation as a Real Madrid player for the next four seasons, Rudy Fernandez will no doubt continue to grow his cumulated stats.

A player that stands out for its versatility, technically can play shooting guard, small forward and even point guard, given even his ability to assist. Just an example. In the 2007-08 season (his last with Joventut Badalona before leaving for NBA) , Rudy managed to average an impressive 20.8 points, 4.1 assists, 2.1 steals and a whopping 3 three-pointers per game, with 41 % effectiveness.

In the American League the thing ended up being very different for the Spaniard. It was perceived only as a small forward and exclusively as a three-point shooter, it was shown that in his three years in Portland and a few months in Denver averaged "only" 5.4 points per three-point shot made (2254/413) and even reached an all-time mark for a rookie player: 159 shots that Damian Lillard was responsible for destroying three years later. Also, their ratio of assists and steals (2.2 and 1.0) were not those of a player more comfortable with the FIBA game, in essence less individualistic.

Since coming to Real Madrid midway through the 2011-12, Rudy has played with the white squad a total of 162 official matches in which he has won a League, a King’s Cup and two Super Cups. His stats since, although not with the same brightness, have stabilized around 14 points, 1.5 three pointers, 2.5 assists and 1.5 steals.

In his 275 career games ACB Rudy totals 3,816 points (13.9 average), 959 total rebounds (3.5), 484 triples (1.8, 37% efficiency), 763 assists (2.8) and 478 steals (1.7). With four years away, it would not be unreasonable to think that comfortable reach 650 triples. Similar averages remained at 85 Euroleague games, which scored 1,171 points (13.8), 336 rebounds (4.0), 178 triples (2.1), 238 assists (2.8) and 135 steals (1.6) .
