Massacre

For the third round of Preliminary Pool A of the London 2012 Olympic Games, Team USA beated Nigeria 156-73 in a game where all olympic records were broken. Most points in a game (156), most points in a quarter (49, the 1st), most three point shots made (29) and most assists (41). They were close to the most point difference (83).

The American squad played against Nigeria what undoubtedly is the most dominant game in Olympic basketball history. With Kobe Bryant and LeBron James played at half-speed, and without names like Dwight Howard, Blake Griffin, Chris Bosh, Dwyane Wade or Derrick Rose, USA with a few guys are still showing us they're still the Dream Team. They massacred them with a perfect game where they dominated in nearly every statistical aspect.

In rebounds, fewer, but effective (38 against 32, with Kevin Love and rookie Anthony Davis with just 6 boards each. In assist, nothing to discuss. Absolutely a record. 41 passes dished against 15 of their rival (Deron Williams with 11 in only 18 minutes and Chris Paul with 7 in 21 minutes), 12 steals against only two, 29/37 in two-pointers, 58/83 in FG made, ... yes, and 29/46 in 3-pointers, with an insane Carmelo Anthony scoring 10 out of 12 in barely 14:37 game minutes. The game development seemed more like a Harlem Globe-Trotter exhibition, and with just a few minutes to the end of the game, whe USA already doubled Nigeria in scoring, the relaxed atmosphere of the bench was such that only lacked them to start playing cards. No doubt they are on another level, but glad to see them. Welcome to the show.
