Spain has no answers, eliminated from World Cup

The victory of the French team by 65-52 before an unrecognizable Spanish team in the quarterfinals, smashed the Spanish World Cup dream into a nightmare that will take long to wake up.

A difference of 22 more rebounds for France (50-28) and 2 triples and 22 attempted just 45 percent on two-point shots (18 of 40) in the attack selection, partly explain the Spanish disaster.

The selection started badly in attack, with failed attempts to Pau, Marc, and triple that did not make Rudy and Ricky. France, on the other hand started the match 'skidding' and with an almost unthinkable 8-0 in just three minutes.

Boris Diaw with two triples without failure and Joffrey Lauvergne very conscious of their work under the basket led the first advantage of the European champions.

Spain was quick to respond with a defense and quick offensive coupled transitions that the Gauls tried once and again if also cut personal foul at any price. The result, a partial 0-10 for nationals increased from 11-2 to 11-12 (min.7,10) in less than four minutes.

The French team continued its dedicated work in defense and high speed of the ball on offense and slow Spanish returned to their game with what came at the end of the first quarter with a tie at 15

In the second period, the French pivots continued their excellent work, locking the Spanish game with their defense and circulating among them the ball on the offensive end up dislodging the Spaniards.

The score was again reflected this difference game, 26-21 (min.16). The Spanish team, in addition to lowering defense, was particularly blunt in the three-point shot until the 18th minute Jose Calderon could not score the first team tenth attempt.

Pau Gasol, with 6 points was the top Spanish scorer at the break. One thing that speaks for itself. If we join the 2 points of Marc Gasol and Serge Ibaka other 2, we have the picture of the hardships of the Spain game.

For the first time in the World Cup, the Spanish found herself in serious trouble and went to the locker room with a 35-28 disturbing. A Palace burst and a standing ovation for almost a minute before the game started, spirits breathed the Spanish players who left angrily in the third quarter. A basket and a defense of Pau in France timed possession, it happened with a counter Sergio Llull and other exemplary defense. Another basket of Pau and France had to call time out, 35-34 (Min.23) before which he appeared to be coming.

France did not look back, but the local improvement in defense and attack allowed the tie to 39 (min.25) with the captain, Juan Carlos Navarro very active. A little riff raff with Pietrus, a little edgy, character, served to end of understanding that this was an important, vital and very different from the first phase match, in which Spain almost ran over France.

The technical foul for complaining French coach Vincent Collet, Llull took advantage to score 39-40 and put back the lead Spanish team after many minutes. Spain was trying to untie the Gordian knot which had become the party and did not quite find a reliable and continuous source of points, while the French team continued to defend rather than stronger regardless of the number of personnel who had to do.

To end the third quarter (42-43), 'Chacho' Rodriguez and Rudy Fernandez reissued the 'alley-oop' who knows half the world and Pau root severed the last French shot with a plug that tasted like heaven and left the Gauls with only 7 points scored throughout the room.

After 30 minutes the Spanish errors and inaccuracies hardships did not end because just over three minutes later returned to France early lead (51-45). The Palacio de los Deportes in Madrid seemed muted because the problem was serious (42-24 in rebounds for France at the time).

With less than two minutes, the problem was already megalithic (57-52) except for Pau, hardly anyone saw ring and France continued his work sledgehammer. The Spanish star is definitely out. The World Cup dream has turned into a cruel nightmare.
