Navarro: the pupil beats the teacher

Juan Carlos Navarro has the mathematical chance to surpass Juan Antonio San Epifanio in the Spanish ACB all-time point list this very season. The Catalan guard, at the end of 2011-12 season, is currently eighth in the list with 6,836 points, and he only needs 191 to pass the mythical “Epi”, seventh with 7,026.

Both players share so much things in common. Except the 2007-08 season (where Navarro was playing in the NBA with Memphis Grizzlies), their entire ACB careers were spent in only one club (F.C. Barcelona), where they have excelled as figures; both are also perimetral players, with similar function (Navarro is a shooting guard and Epi was a shooting small-forward); they have played at major international level with Spain (they have cumulated more than four hundred caps between them) and also share silver Olympic medals (Epi at Los Angeles ‘84 and Navarro at Beijing and London). ¿Another fact? Both were born as Gemini, and their birthday is within one day difference (Epi was born on June 12, 1959, and Navarro on June 13, 1980).
