Christian Dalmau reaches 10,000 in Puerto Rico

In the last April 10 game where Guaynabo Mets won 99-85 against defending champions Leones de Ponce, Christian Dalmau surpassed the 10,000 point-mark in the BSN of Puerto Rico.

Dalmau, who will turn 40 on August 29, and in his 22nd season in 24 years (he has played overseas in Poland and Israel among other leagues) scored 24 points in that match, totalizing 10,002 in 568 games, 17.6 average. The feat came with a three-pointer in the last minute of the match. At that time, the party stopped and held the ball, while the fans of Ponce gave him a round of applause.

Christian Dalmau is a member of a family of legends in Puerto Rican basketball. A father and three brothers all with long careers and also all of them international for Puerto Rico: Raymond Sr. is the 5th all-time scorer (11592 points, 21.6 average) and fourth in rebounding (5673, 10.6) in 537 games in 20-year career between 1966 and 1985. Raymond Jr.. stands 31st in points (6601, 14.5) and 7th in assists (2302, 5.1) in 455 games in an 18-year span until his retirement in 2009. Ricardo, the "baby" of the family, retired in 2011 as 35th all-time in points (6455, 13.3) and 13th in three-pointers made with 733 (1.5) in 485 matches also in an 18-year career.

Christian went even further. Current all-time leading scorer among active players, right now he is 11th all-time in points and is 4th in assists with 2,693 (4.7) and recently surpassed Eddie Casiano for 3rd place in three-pointers (1070, 1.9).

Also, along with his father, he's the only father-son duo in basketball history who passed each one 10,000 points in a same FIBA league.
